Albany Symphony’s Dogs of Desire premiere ¡Ahi Va!
Skidmore College
Saratoga Springs, NY

Albany Symphony Orchestra’s edgy new music ensemble, Dogs of Desire, will premiere works by seven young Americans exploring non-Western folk cultures through the prism of pop culture at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
The event is free and open to the public.

The composers in this “Embracing the World” program include David Little, whose work takes inspiration from West African drumming; Mark Dancigers, exploring the sound worlds of Japanese Gagaku and Balinese Gamelan; David Mallamud, creating witty and rollicking evocations of European “non-art song”; and others, including George Tsontakis, D.J. Sparr, Kostis Kritsotakis, and Kati Agocs.

Together, 18 top-notch musicians and vocalists will perform; they will be led by ASO Music Director David Alan Miller.
